Superintendent Jeremy described the situation at Red Mill where a dam formed after the July 4 holiday, leaving 6–8 inches of extra water across the wetland and extending water close to an upstream home. She told the board McCoy—charges are "$450 to trap for a month" plus "$100 per beaver."
Jeremy also explained that live-trapping beavers is difficult and that in practice the contractor—would use lethal trapping methods, saying, "So it would be a lethal trapping." Board members agreed to contract for the service to reduce risk to infrastructure and private property.
The contract was moved, seconded and approved by the members present. The motion includes a monthly service fee and per-animal charges; staff said they would oversee implementation and report back to the board on results.
Next step: Parks staff will execute the contract with McCoy Wildlife Control and monitor the trapping program; the board requested updates on effectiveness and any continuing flood risk.
