White Lake tables fire-department bylaw changes; trustees report events and service updates

The Village of White Lake board discussed proposed updates to the White Lake Fire Department bylaws — including adding a five-year review cycle and verifying the ages of active firefighters — but voted to table the bylaws on a motion by Village President Tom Edelman, seconded by Trustee Patsy Listle. Trustee Frank Skarlupka reported on recent and upcoming fire department activities: propane training held recently, a 2% dues audit completed April 14, hydro testing performed on May 5, upcoming ladder testing and a large-extraction training on Aug. 9; a helicopter will participate in training on May 10. Skarlupka also noted a pancake breakfast planned for July.
Trustee Patsy Listle reported community items including results from the Iron Mike fundraiser (winner: Mark Kamin), Independence Day planning with entertainment confirmed, and a change in food pantry leadership to Jamie Jauquet and Jeri Hidde, who plan to open the pantry four days per month. Clerk Carol Blawat relayed a proposal from Amber Sweet of the White Lake Public Library for a children's summer art project to paint metal garbage cans and reported the dugouts project at the ballfield by Eddie Dispensa Construction is nearly complete.
The board did not take further action on the bylaws or these community items at the meeting; items remained for future consideration or follow-up by staff.
