He also said the department renewed its Axon body camera contract and updated VPN software on department computers. Leschke described continuing work on a Sex Offender Residency Restriction Ordinance and said he had met with Correction Program Specialist Heather Dedering and Corrections Field Supervisor Melissa Vitort on that effort.
The council also reviewed a November internal investigation into the use of a police vehicle by a non‑city employee; Chief Leschke asked whether the council was satisfied with the investigation's findings during the meeting record. Alderperson Meta Berg raised concerns about gaps in city administration and council communication in the absence of an administrator. No formal disciplinary actions or personnel decisions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
