Town Administrator Tiffany Cooks reported to the Town of Estill Council on Dec. 11 that the operating cost for Merry on the Main totaled $8,949.45. She acknowledged volunteer committee members and announced Estill Pharmacy as the winner of the event’s window-contest.
Cooks said the town waived business-license requirements for the event and paid vendors a flat rate because turnout was uncertain. Mayor Kilue Kim Wiley said fall festivals have considerable overhead costs — including police and staff — and asked that future events follow consistent policies and procedures.
During public comment Janie Roberts thanked the council for the gazebo at Bowers Park and asked about recording meetings at the fire station. Miriam Burgess asked whether the town could set a cap for the container-home auction, and Linda Gordon asked about restarting line dancing.
The minutes record the finance figure and licensing decision in the Town Administrator’s report. The council did not vote to rescind or alter the licensing waiver at the meeting; questions about vendor processes and future event policy were raised for follow-up.
