The Village of Wilton Board on May 11 approved a package of routine operations and maintenance items, including hiring seasonal staff, awarding bids for building repairs and updating pool fees.
President Wilde presided over the meeting at the Village Office. The board voted unanimously to hire eight lifeguards (Arbuckle, Brueggeman, John, L. Kennedy, M. Kennedy, Purcell and Vitcenda) and to authorize purchase of two campground cameras for up to $1,000 total (motion by Short, seconded by O'Rourke). The board also approved campground signage — a campground map and welcome sign with installation and a $92 graphic-design charge — on a motion by Wallman, seconded by Short.
The board accepted a lower steel-roof bid from A Hagen Carpentry for $8,236.64 plus $600 for disposal, rejecting a higher bid from Anytime Roofing ($12,772.12); Bever moved and Wallman seconded the motion. The board separately approved a steel door for the concession stand from Steve Brandau at an estimated $260–$300 plus labor (motion by Thompson, seconded by Short).
Park operations and fees were also updated. Coldren moved and Short seconded a change to the pool season-pass rates to $55 for resident single passes and $75 for nonresident single passes, and $150 for resident family passes and $250 for nonresident family passes. The board voted to prohibit sales of pool passes to AirBnB properties.
On administrative and contract matters the board accepted Evan of Town & Country Engineering’s recommended Option 2 — submitting a deductive change order request to Wapasha to reduce the remaining balance to $0 with no change order cost (motion by Coldren, seconded by Short). The board authorized the village clerk to pursue unresolved CDBG loan matters if needed, approved removal of VC3 support from sewer and ambulance computers, authorized a laptop purchase for the clerk up to $1,500, and asked staff to send a termination letter to Catalis regarding contract termination procedures.
The board also approved placing a 1/4-page color ad in The Visitor magazine for $325 (motion by Wallman, seconded by Coldren). Meetings will move from a 7:00 p.m. start to 6:00 p.m. going forward after a motion by Wallman and seconded by Coldren.
The meeting included routine approvals of the April bills and minutes and concluded with a closed session for employee performance reviews pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 19.85(c); the board returned to open session at 9:31 p.m. and adjourned at 9:32 p.m.
