The Village of Whitelaw Utility Committee on June 1 approved ordering a spare Xylem Flight pump and a preventative-maintenance agreement after staff said pump lead times are long and the equipment is critical to water operations.
Public Works Director Jerry Linsmeier presented Option 1 preventative maintenance for $1,700 and recommended buying a spare pump to ensure redundancy. Trustee Beverly Linzmeier moved to order the spare pump and approve the maintenance option; Trustee Barney McCulley seconded the motion and the committee carried it.
Jerry also reported that both generators performed properly during a recent storm and that the new pump-house transformer operated as expected, keeping water and sewer services functional. He noted the pump house generator is exercised automatically on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. while the Kohler generator is exercised manually once per month.
The committee discussed pump rotation and emergency-response planning; no roll-call vote counts were recorded in the minutes. Staff will proceed to order the spare pump and implement the maintenance agreement.
