Weyauwega council allows private well and septic for 3rd Avenue parcel, approves permits and licenses

The Weyauwega Common Council on April 15 approved a set of land-use permissions, event permits and retail licenses, including authorization for a private well and septic on a 9.86-acre parcel at the end of 3rd Avenue if connection to the city system is infeasible.
Sue Mueller and Kurt Duppler told the council they wish to purchase the 9.86-acre parcel and build a single-family home. They said they are working with Faulks Bros Construction to explore options for connecting to the city sewer and water system and asked for council approval to install a private well and septic if the cost of connecting to city utilities becomes prohibitive. The city’s attorney, as reported in the minutes, advised that a variance was not required and that approval was at the council’s discretion. Council member Chris Gunderson moved and Shani Appleby seconded to approve a private well and septic for the property if needed; the motion carried with five ayes and zero nays.
Separately, the council approved the Parade Permit Application for the American Legion Post #176 Memorial Day Parade on May 26, 2025 and waived the permit fee; granted a six-month Class B beer license to WF Youth Baseball & Softball Inc for concession sales at Maasch Community Park; approved a street use permit and a temporary Class B retailer license for the Weyauwega Area Fire Department Chicken BBQ on June 1, 2025; and approved operator license applications for Karissa Pellerino, Mark Haire and Rafael Parra for Dollar General Market. All motions were recorded as carrying with five ayes and zero nays.
During the Police, Fire & Ambulance Committee report, School Resource Officer Pat McClone introduced himself to the council and said he is enjoying his assignment with the Weyauwega–Fremont School District and the Weyauwega Police Department. The council adjourned to a re-organizational meeting at 7:02 p.m.
