The Weyauwega Common Council on March 17 approved several public-works items including a $47,000 contract with the Waupaca County Highway Department for the East Street road project, a $4,400 two-application spraying contract with Green Boyz, and $5,192 in tree grate repairs for Main and Mill streets.
On a motion from the Public Works Committee, council members approved the East Street quote from Waupaca County. The council also approved the Green Boyz quote to spray 16 acres in two applications. Discussion about tree grate repairs initially deferred to clarify funding sources; Mayor Rich Luedke said funds would come from the sidewalk budget and capital funds and council then approved the $5,192 repair work.
Council member Austin Baehnman sponsored several of the public-works motions; votes on the listed motions carried with five ayes and zero nays. The tree grate repairs and spraying are routine municipal maintenance; the East Street contract is a road-repair capital project scheduled to proceed under Public Works oversight.
