District reports safety upgrades, track construction and fall event calendar

The operations official (speaker 3) told the Florence School District 5 board about safety and facilities work planned or in progress. He said the district applied for a Safer Schools grant to replace VR camera servers, upgrade VMS software, finish rekeying locks and request cell phone patches for JMS and JHS. He said the district is awaiting word on the grant and is preparing to replace camera servers and upgrade network hardware.
The operations official reported athletic facility work: field lights at the football field are completed, lighting crews had begun work on baseball and softball fields, and track construction crews would start demolition the next day. He said window replacement at the high school is pending arrival of materials and that bus gates and additional access control installations will be tested after being installed over fall break.
Separately, a speaker (S1) listed upcoming school events and calendar items: JMS homecoming, a district‑wide career exploration day on Oct. 3 (K–12), JES fall carnival, JMS Halloween dance, teacher work day Oct. 4, and fall break Oct. 7–11. The operations presenter and others said work is ongoing but on schedule for completion in the coming weeks.
