DNR approves private dredging permit; board hears updates on treatment survey, goose roundup and audit contacts

The State DNR approved a homeowner dredging permit on Wind Lake; the board also heard that a pre-treatment survey is planned, members will be surveyed on a possible goose roundup June 1, and two auditors have agreed to perform the district financial audit.
Treasurer Todd Flunker told the board the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has approved a dredging permit for the homeowner at 24301 N Wind Lake Rd.
Chairman Mike Bluemel said a homeowner had called after receiving the district newsletter to request weekly roadside weed pickup through the end of October rather than the scheduled biweekly pickup that ends Sept. 28; board members noted the roadside pickup schedule ties to the time when the harvester will be removed from the lake.
On other operational items, County Representative Joe Bellante reported that he spoke with Keenan at Solitude and that a pre-treatment lake survey is tentatively scheduled for the week of Memorial Day to guide any chemical treatment decisions.
The board discussed goose control and noted there appear to be fewer geese this year; Bluemel said he will survey board members on June 1 to determine whether to proceed with a goose roundup.
Flunker said he had contacted both Connie Herda and Ken Mueller and that both remain willing to perform the district's FY2024 financial audit (noted as 2025 audit activities on the agenda). The board did not take additional formal action on the dredging permit, weed pickup timing or the treatment survey at the meeting; those items will move forward as operational tasks or follow-up work.
