Wilton board approves monthly bills and minutes, accepts $5,500 bid for surplus truck; tables VC3 agreement

The Village of Wilton Board met Feb. 9 and conducted routine business including approval of bills and minutes, acceptance of a surplus truck bid, and instructions to seek mowing bids for a village cemetery. The board also tabled an agreement with VC3 and received two public comments.
On the consent agenda the board approved bills for January 2026 on a motion by Bever, seconded by Thompson; the board then approved minutes on a motion by Wallman, seconded by Short. Both motions carried with the meeting record stating "all in favor"; no roll-call vote totals were recorded in the minutes.
The board accepted a single bid of $5,500 for a 2009 F350. Wallman moved to accept the bid and O'Rourke seconded; the motion carried. The board also voted to put out bids for 2026 mowing of Hillside Cemetery, with Thompson moving and Short seconding the motion to solicit per-mow pricing from bidders using their own equipment.
A motion by Short, seconded by O'Rourke, to table an agreement with VC3 also carried unanimously. On garbage and recycling the board was told that GFL will keep current pricing for 2026 without a contract; no action was taken on that item.
Public comment included an offer by Dean Zellmer, representing the Wilton Weenies, to donate around $5,000 to the village, and a complaint from Nikki Baxter of 608 Main St. about a semi running all night on her street. Village staff member Janel raised the need for a rental checklist for the Community Center after repeated issues with lights, unlocked doors and trash, and staff member John noted occupancy concerns at the Hitchin' Post during live-music events. The meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
