Kent County commissioners approved a staff recommendation to accept and appropriate $100,000 from AAA West Michigan to the FY26 Community Development Fund for the Home Renewal for Seniors program.
A staff presenter said AAA West Michigan committed $100,000 to support Kent County Community Action’s program for FY27; that award will be combined with HOME Investment Partnership funding administered by KCCA to create a $500,000 program pool for essential home repairs and accessibility modifications for low‑income older adults.
The recommendation authorized the board chair or designee to execute agreements and allowed for extensions or amendments up to 15% of the original award. Commissioner Sparks moved the item and Vice Chair Hildebrand supported it; the board approved the appropriation by voice vote with no opposing votes recorded in the transcript.
Kent County Community Action will administer eligibility, project management and contractor oversight; AAA West Michigan will assist with outreach and referrals.
