The Price County Local Emergency Planning Committee adopted updated bylaws for 2026 and approved a membership list to be forwarded to the County Board and the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) at its Jan. 21 meeting in Phillips.
The committee approved a set of by-law changes that explicitly identify the Compliance Inspector and convert the chair and vice-chair into evergreen officer positions, meaning those officers are carried forward under the updated language until otherwise changed. Committee members were asked to email an alternate to the County Emergency Management Director so records remain current. The committee voted to approve the by-law revisions; the motion was made by Roger Petrick and seconded by Jeff Hallstrand and was recorded as carried.
The committee also approved the membership list and agreed to forward it for formal appointment by the County Board and SERC. The membership introductions earlier in the meeting identified how individual members map to the five statutory categories for LEPC composition — elected officials; emergency responders/health and transportation personnel; media; community groups; and facility owners/operators subject to EPCRA reporting. The membership-list motion was made by Marvin Nevelier and seconded by Philip Bochler and was recorded as carried.
The next procedural step is for staff to submit the approved bylaws to the state for review and then to the federal level as required for compliance; meeting minutes record that the committee will proceed with that submission and maintain contact with the Emergency Management office. The committee scheduled its next meeting for April 15, 2026.
