Hollis/Brookline Coop School District schedules June 17 special meeting to cure warrant-posting defect

Chair Carol Roy announced at a June 9 public hearing that the Hollis/Brookline Coop School District will hold a special school district meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in the Hollis Brookline Middle School gym to consider a single special warrant article.

The article, read aloud by Roy, asks: "Shall the district vote to cure the procedural defect caused by the lack of board member signatures on the warrant posting related to the March 17th 2026 annual meeting?" Roy identified the statutory basis for calling the special meeting as RSA 40:16.

Why it matters: the special meeting would allow voters to address a procedural defect the district says arose from a missing board-member signature on the warrant posted for the March 17 annual meeting. If voters approve the article at the June 17 meeting, the district intends that approval to remedy that procedural error.

At the June 9 hearing in the middle school library, Roy opened the floor to testimony in favor and opposition but said she did not see any members of the public present. "I am not seeing any members of the public here in the room, but I will go through the procedure anyway," she said, and then declared the public hearing closed at 6:13 p.m.

Roy named officials present and absent: Rafael Zach, vice chair, and Ann Wake de Pascual, secretary, were seated; Jonathan Fontaine and Jessica Lehends were reported as unable to attend. She also acknowledged Gina Birkscog, Dot Flaherty and Lance Flomino in attendance.

Logistics and next steps: Roy confirmed the special school district meeting will convene at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, in the Hollis Brookline Middle School gym. No formal vote occurred at the June 9 hearing; the special district meeting scheduled for June 17 is the forum for action on Article 1.

The district provided the hearing as public notice under RSA 40:16 and invited voters to attend the June 17 meeting.
