The Franklin Lakes Board of Education voted on Sept. 16 to approve a consent agenda (Resolutions 1902–1926) covering a range of finance, personnel and operational items.
The motion to approve the consent agenda was offered by Mr. Scott Loia and seconded by Mr. Ryan Richman. Resolution 1902 (approval of minutes) passed with six yes votes and two abstentions (Ms. Elisa Billis and Mr. SeWhan Kim). Resolutions 1903–1926 passed with eight yes votes and no recorded no votes or abstentions.
Financial and contract items approved included certification of the monthly budget (Resolution 1904); authorization to process invoices between meetings (Resolution 1907); approval of the August 2025 check register totaling $1,868,774.70 (Resolution 1908); and approval of the bills list to date for September 2025 totaling $3,364,630.81 (Resolution 1913). The board also approved estimated payroll for September 2025 in the amount of $2,100,000 (Resolution 1914) and actual payroll for August 2025 of $434,190.33 (Resolution 1910).
The board approved a contract with Home Care Therapies LLC dba Horizon Healthcare Staffing to provide nursing staff services on an as-needed basis for 2025–26 (Resolution 1911). The district accepted a donation of a refrigerator valued at $1,048 from the Woodside Avenue School PTA (Resolution 1912).
Personnel actions approved included new-teacher orientation stipends and Schedule B-2 stipends (Resolutions 1917–1918), appointment of building-based daily substitute Lauren Porreca effective Sept. 2, 2025 (Resolution 1919), multiple maternity and medical leave approvals (Resolutions 1920–1922, 1925), an extension of a temporary salary adjustment for paraeducator Devin Sanderson-Raphael through Oct. 31, 2025 (Resolution 1923), additional pay for extra hours for school-based training (Resolution 1924), and approval of additional zero-period pay for Laura Lally at $8,250 annually (Resolution 1926).
The board approved an out-of-district placement for Student ID #5981 to the PERL Program, Ridgewood Public Schools, for Sept. 2, 2025–June 24, 2026. The transcript lists the placement tuition figures as: $67,784 tuition; $38,507.75 extraordinary aid; related services $11,544.00; Total: $117,835.75 (Resolution 1905).
The meeting then recessed into a private work session to discuss personnel and legal matters; the public meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m.
