Franklin Lakes Board rescinds one appointment, approves multiple teacher and paraeducator hires

During its Aug. 26 meeting, the Franklin Lakes Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions including acceptance of resignations and confirmation of appointments for the 2025–26 school year.
The board accepted the resignation of Marissa Hanley (Special Education Teacher) and other listed staff. It moved to rescind the appointment of Noah Cabassa as a Health & Physical Education teacher at Colonial Road School, effective Aug. 27, 2025. The board approved appointments including Jenna Ribeiro (non‑tenurable leave replacement elementary teacher at Colonial Road School, prorated salary $58,500), Karen Petersen (special education teacher, salary $67,901, with emergent Commissioner filing authorized for a three‑month emergent appointment pending criminal history clearance), Michael DeKorte (Health & Physical Education teacher, salary $73,773, with emergent filing authorized), Kylie Pucci (elementary teacher, salary $60,837) and appointing Mayra Perez as a paraeducator at Franklin Avenue Middle School (salary $35,036).
Several appointments were expressly made contingent on the employee executing the board’s customary employment contract and, where applicable, on Commissioner of Education emergent approval pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:6‑7.1c until criminal-history clearance is received. The board also approved substitute lists, staff mentor stipends, zero periods and schedule B‑2 stipends as presented in the consent agenda.
