At its July 15 meeting the Franklin Borough School District Board of Education approved multiple finance and facilities items, including federal grants, vendor payments, and contracts for food service and building work.
The board approved vendor payments for the period June 15–July 12, 2024 totaling $364,758.25. It approved submission and acceptance of the ESEA consolidated grant for July 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025 with allocations of Title I $119,760; Title II $15,990; and Title IV $10,000 (total $145,750), and declined Title III entitlements of $2,388. The board also accepted IDEA allocations of Basic $191,196 and Preschool $10,513 (total $207,771).
The board amended a prior resolution to accept Maschio’s Food Services, Inc. as the Food Service Management Company for 2024–25; the full contract cost is listed as $251,258.21, which includes an administrative/management fee of $15,000 billed in 10 monthly installments. The board authorized a $115,140 withdrawal from Capital Reserve to cover half the cost of remodeling the annex bathroom and approved contracting Northeastern Interior Services LLC for remodeling at $224,653.20 and Hannon Floor Covering Corporation for cafeteria floor replacement at a cost not to exceed $20,600; the remaining $115,140 for the annex project is to be covered by the PEEA budget.
Facility use requests for community groups (Girls on the Run, Let Me Run, YMCA and a Train Show hosted by the Sussex County Railroad Club and the Franklin Historical Society scheduled for May 2–3, 2025) were approved pending required paperwork and custodial overtime determinations where applicable.
