Franklin Borough board approves 2024–25 hires, stipends and multiple policy readings

The Franklin Borough School District Board of Education on July 15 unanimously approved a slate of 2024–25 personnel appointments, substitute listings and extracurricular stipends.

On a motion moved by Stephanie Perna and seconded by Christopher Patterson, the board approved long-term substitute teacher Kristen Bauer (BA Step 1, $60,637 annual, benefit-eligible), and several .71 FTE part-time paraprofessionals at $19.00 per hour pending required paperwork. The board also amended or approved extra summer hours for counselors Stephen Untisz and Nicole Charpentier and reading specialist Janel Edwards at a rate of $45 per hour.

The board approved substitute staffing lists for the coming school year with daily rates set at $150 for substitute teachers, $110 for substitute paraprofessionals and $250 for substitute nurses.

Extra-curricular appointments approved for 2024–25 include Kristen Bauer as girls basketball head coach ($3,652), Angela Gonzales as cheerleading assistant ($2,696), Jason Siegert as field hockey head coach ($3,558), and Alyxx Mangine as yearbook advisor and eighth-grade advisor with listed stipends.

Board members also approved first readings of multiple policies and regulations covering physical examinations, curriculum content, attendance, service animals, student suicide prevention, honoring student achievement, vandalism, emergency and crisis situations, and firearms and weapons. Separately, the board resolved to abolish Policy P 0164.6, “Remote Public Board Meetings During a Declared Emergency.”

The personnel and policy votes were recorded by roll call and carried unanimously when put to a vote.
