Resident asks whether WASB 'Save Women’s Sports' resolution will return to floor; board explains process

During the open forum at the Winneconne Community School District board meeting on Dec. 16, resident Adam Arons asked whether the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) 'Save Women's Sports' resolution — described in his comment as stating that there should be no biological males in girls' sports — would come up for a vote this year.
Arons asked how the district’s representative voted previously and whether the board’s policy committee meetings could be scheduled so they do not run into the board meeting start time. He also offered praise for signs he saw from a Christian fellowship group.
A board representative explained that the resolution was brought forward last year but did not receive the necessary two-thirds vote at the delegation level and therefore was not voted on by the full delegation; as of the Dec. 16 meeting, the item had not come out of the resolutions committee for this year. The representative said that bringing a resolution to the delegation floor requires a two-thirds vote of the delegation and that the district will review the packet and take direction from the board if members wish to pursue discussion at the convention in January.
What’s next: Board members noted that if the delegation votes to move a resolution forward at the WASB convention in January, the district delegation will report back and the board will review any questions after the convention.
