Board approves multiple hires, substitute appointments and stipend changes

At the Oct. 14 meeting the Franklin Borough School District Board approved a package of personnel actions across staffing, substitutes and stipends.
The board accepted the resignation of Shakeel Danwatta (part‑time paraprofessional; last day worked Oct. 4, 2024) and rescinded earlier appointments for Krista Ross (part‑time paraprofessional) and Dylan Rodriguez (substitute custodian), both originally approved Sept. 16, 2024. The board approved a maternity leave request for Emily Wynne spanning Feb. 17 through May 2, 2025.
Pending required paperwork, the board appointed Neil Kozlowski as a long‑term substitute math teacher (.79 FTE) from on or about Oct. 17 through Dec. 20, 2024, compensated at $55 per hour (not to exceed 5.5 hours/day) with limited paid sick/personal days and not benefit eligible. The board also approved the hire of Kristen Bauer (1.0 FTE teacher, BA Step 4 at $60,637 per year), part‑time paraprofessionals Aurora Brown and Katie Ghaleb (both .71 FTE at $19/hr), and other staff listed in the agenda pending completion of paperwork.
The board approved substitute appointment listings and compensation (example: substitute teacher $150/day; substitute paraprofessional $110/day), rescinded a substitute teacher stipend previously assigned to Lisa Dylewski, and approved a substitute teacher stipend of $2,130 for paraprofessional Kelly Baldassano. A $2/hr compensation differential for paraprofessionals providing higher level of care was approved for named employees and date ranges.
Extracurricular and role stipends approved included a $550 30‑week mentor stipend for Regina Norris to mentor novice teacher Kristen Bauer, custodial stipends (Assistant to the Head Custodian $1,800; Night Foreman $1,200; Assistant to the Night Foreman $250), and a soccer referee appointment at $65 per game.
These personnel actions were presented by the Superintendent and approved on the motion listed in the minutes; many appointments were listed as pending required paperwork. The board's approval covers start dates, compensation or stipend amounts and, where relevant, applicable date ranges.
