Williams Bay School District trustees on April 14 approved a series of contracts to renovate the middle/high-school locker rooms, including painting, new bathroom and shower partitions, epoxy flooring and plumbing work. Administrators estimated the total project at about $175,000.
Ryan, who led the facilities presentation, told the board the district ordered new lockers with the longest lead time and expects other prep work to occur over the summer so installations finish before the school year. He described plans for larger equipment lockers, reconfigured locker bays and single-head showers to simplify maintenance.
Board members approved separate vendor contracts during the meeting: ACO Painting for painting ($11,000), Marshfield Book and Stationery for shower and bathroom partitions ($17,624.90), New Life Surface Restoration for an epoxy coat flooring system ($20,525), and Hartwig Mechanical Incorporated for plumbing work ($28,475). "The lockers ran around 90, and then we had all this other work layered in," an administrator said, giving the $175,000 estimate for the whole project.
Ryan said the district discovered chipped floors and aging epoxy in shower areas and that new partitions and single shower heads will reduce wear and simplify repairs. The board discussed coordination, contractor lead times and summer scheduling; administrators prioritized locker procurement because of the long lead time.
Each bid was presented individually and approved by the board. Staff said some work will require temporary access adjustments (including relocating activities to the fitness center during demolition) and that they will monitor contractor performance closely.
The board approved the contracts by voice vote and directed staff to proceed with the phased work and coordination needed to finish installations before the fall semester.
