Board authorizes negotiation with Lee Lewis Construction for Story Middle School and Encore Academy renovations

Administrators recommended Lee Lewis Construction as the highest-ranked proposer for construction-manager-at-risk (CMAR) services for Story Middle School and the Encore Academy phase 1–2 renovation project.
"Following that evaluation process, Lee Lewis Construction received the highest overall score and is being recommended as the highest ranked proposer," Mr. Taylor told trustees, summarizing the committee’s review of six proposals and the scoring criteria—pricing, experience, staffing approach, project understanding, references and past performance.
Trustees asked questions about Lee Lewis’s capacity while it also serves as CMAR on the new Midland High School project. Taylor said Lee Lewis provided written assurances that dedicated teams and resources would be assigned so the Story/Encore work would not negatively affect the high school schedule.
A motion to approve the ranking and to authorize the superintendent or designee to negotiate and execute a CMAR contract for the highest-ranked offer was made and seconded; the board approved the action by unanimous vote.
Administration said Parkhill will serve as the architectural firm for the project and that Midland ISD will maintain direct oversight and coordination during construction.
