The board accepted the resignation and retirement of Scott Thompson, Wrightstown High School principal, effective at the end of the school year (June 30). The superintendent described the vacancy posting, candidate screening and a stakeholder committee approach that will include staff and student representatives from the district’s student council, teachers and parents.
"As soon as Scott gave us his letter of retirement... we put together this advertisement ... we have those qualifications and those expectations there," the superintendent told trustees, adding that the district had seven applicants at the time of the meeting and would screen to a short list for interviews, background checks and negotiation with finalists before public announcements.
The board moved, seconded and approved the retirement "with regret and appreciation" for 25 years of service and asked the administration to proceed with the described search and hiring process. The motion carried unanimously.
Administration said it will report updates on candidate screening and timing as the selection process moves forward; the board did not take any additional personnel action during the meeting.
