Wrightstown board debates consent agenda and approves new standing 'future agenda items' item; consent plan tabled until summer

The Wrightstown school board spent extensive time discussing a proposed consent (consensus) agenda, a tool some districts use to group routine, noncontroversial items to speed meetings. Administration presented a sample template and guidelines for what could be included and how items would be removed for discussion.
Supporters said the consent agenda could free time for more substantive discussion. Critics warned that in the board’s current climate a consent agenda could be used to push items through without careful review. Board members emphasized that any member could remove an item and that transparency required clear rules on what belongs in consent.
After deliberation the board agreed to delay broad adoption. A motion was made to move the consent-agenda discussion to a June or July workshop meeting for further consideration; the motion carried.
Separately, the board voted to add a standing agenda item called "future agenda items" so trustees can propose topics for upcoming meetings using a recommended form. The proposal includes a suggested maximum discussion time (15 minutes per item) and documentation expectations; board members approved the addition with minor edits.
