Fort Lee board approves bundled resolutions including playground and sign contracts

The Fort Lee Board of Education approved a package of consent and resolution items during its public meeting, including agenda items covering playground work and replacement of the high-school sign.

Superintendent Dr. Kravis told the board the district typically purchases through state-approved cooperative vendors and that when a vendor is not state-approved the district requests three quotes, runs reference checks and submits contracts for attorney review. He said the playground proposal submitted in late September can still be executed and, if the district can use the same footprint and weather cooperates, work could be ready by spring.

A board member asked whether using a state-approved vendor bypasses pricing comparisons; other trustees urged that, even for state-approved vendors, the district may seek additional quotes to confirm fair pricing. Dr. Kravis acknowledged the point and said multiple cooperatives may list different vendors, and the administration had chosen a state-approved contractor with the preferred footprint and features.

Board members approved the bundled items after roll-call votes. The motions were made and seconded on the record and commissioners voted to adopt the items as presented.

Administrators said the high-school sign will be replaced (not repaired) and that selected vendors came from different purchasing cooperatives; they described the vetting process as including cooperative membership, contract review and reference checks.

The board did not provide a timetable for each individual purchase beyond the superintendents statement that the playground project could be ready in spring if site conditions allow. The superintendent said staff will continue to follow procurement policy and legal review requirements before executing contracts.
