PTO reports holiday support and proposed handbook edits on smartwatches and dress code

Sola Johnson, representing the PTO, updated the board on holiday activities and proposed handbook changes.
Johnson said the Penny War displays and a coordinated community effort will support 19 families and more than 45 students through the district's holiday-help program. She also announced a planned vendor transition for PE uniforms to BSN with a rollout to the online ordering platform in March and full transition in July.
On handbook edits, Johnson noted students flagged that "smartwatches were not listed" and that the PTO proposed explicitly listing smartwatches in the electronic-device policy; she also described tightened dress-code language to address visible midriffs in instructional time. The board chair and Dr. White reminded the group that any handbook changes must return to the board for formal approval in January, and Dr. White confirmed the board had approved the handbook in August and would need to reapprove edits.
Johnson also said 1st National Bank in Williams Bay will highlight a monthly senior spotlight program with the high school.
Next steps: staff will prepare final handbook language and present it for board approval in January.
