Williams Bay board waives second reading and adopts Title IX‑aligned harassment and nondiscrimination policies

The Williams Bay School District board on July 22 waived its normal two‑reading requirement to adopt a set of revised policies designed to align the district with recent federal Title IX guidance.
Board members voted to waive board policy 1.51 so that the new rules would be effective before the start of the school year. The board then adopted revisions covering student discrimination and harassment, employee discrimination and harassment, student equal opportunity and employee equal opportunity, and an accompanying complaint‑form exhibit. Dr. White said the changes were prepared with legal counsel "to realign" the district's policies with the new Title IX requirements and to ensure parents and staff have clear complaint procedures.
Board members discussed minor numbering and typographical items during the meeting and confirmed one policy would be amended as noted before final publication. The district will publish the updated policies and notify the public as required.
The board treated the policy adoptions as formal actions for the record and approved them by voice vote.
