Planning commissioner resigns; commission approves consent items
Summary
At its June 10 meeting the Corpus Christi Planning Commission accepted the resignation of Commissioner Michael Miller and approved the consent agenda (items 2–20) by voice vote. The commission also set separate hearings for two pulled items.
Michael Miller, who identified himself as a planning commissioner and a District 2 resident, told the commission he was "formally submitting my resignation from the planning commission effective today, 06/10/2026," saying he had served since July 2019 and thanking staff and fellow commissioners.
After public comment the commission proceeded to housekeeping business. A motion to approve recorded absences and the minutes of the May 13, 2026 meeting was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Planning staff then presented the consent agenda of plats and zoning items (items 2–20); a commissioner moved to approve items 2 through 20 en bloc, another seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.
The commission pulled two items — item 21 (a Greenwood Drive rezoning request) and item 22 (a rezoning to a PUD) — for separate discussion. Both items were discussed later in the meeting and received their own public comment periods.
The commission adjourned after a director's report that said staff will present more in-depth case materials at future meetings and that the city is beginning chapter-by-chapter UDC updates.
What happens next: the items approved on the consent agenda will proceed through the normal administrative process; the pulled items were scheduled for separate consideration later in the meeting.
