BPAC to map downtown bike racks and assess use after citizen concern

Darin Pryor told the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee that a citizen raised concerns about insufficient bike racks in the downtown area at a recent City Council meeting. Pryor said he and Tina Balch were asked to bring the matter to BPAC for input.
Committee members agreed it would be beneficial to create a map of existing bike-rack locations and to monitor rack utilization. The committee directed staff and volunteers to compile the inventory and utilization data and to schedule the topic for a future BPAC meeting for further review.
No firm deadlines or funding requests were set at the meeting; the committee characterized this as an informational effort to produce better data before proposing installations or policy changes.
