BPAC backs Rolla as overnight stop for Route 66 Centennial Ride, approves park use

Committee member Aimee Campbell told the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee on Nov. 18 that Rolla will be an overnight stop for the Route 66 Centennial Ride on Sept. 8, 2026, and the Chamber paid a $5,000 sponsorship that includes international promotion.
The Chamber —xpects about 200 '00 '00 riders, Campbell said, and lodging and logistics for overnight guests are still being worked out. Campbell said she will seek Park Board approval to use Ber Juan Park/Sports Complex for riders who want to camp, noting the site has water and electricity and has been used in prior years for camping.
City Council member Tina Balch moved that the committee support the Big BAM event and the use of Ber Juan Park for overnight riders; the motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous voice vote. The committee did not set operational details but agreed to provide a letter of support for park use as organizers finalize plans.
The decision clears a local endorsement for the event but does not authorize park permits or detailed logistics; Campbell said she will take the matter to the Park Board as part of next-step arrangements.
