Charlemont assessors approve warrants and invoice, vote unanimously to enter executive session

The Charlemont Board of Assessors approved routine administrative items and voted unanimously Thursday to adjourn the open meeting and enter executive session to deliberate abatement and exemption applications.
On a motion by Chair Karen Rau, seconded by Andrea Santos, the board approved the minutes from its Aug. 4, 2025 meeting. The board then voted, on a motion by Rau and seconded by Anthony Ostroski, to approve and sign the warrant to the collector and the Notice of Commitment for the town’s 2025 motor vehicle excise commitment #5 and the monthly list of property and excise tax abatements for August and September 2025. The board also voted, on a motion by Rau seconded by Santos, to approve an invoice from CAI for tax map updates (invoice dated 10/1/2025). The minutes record unanimous votes on these motions.
At 7:11 p.m., the board voted, on a Rau motion seconded by Ostroski, to adjourn the meeting and enter executive session under the authority of G.L. Chapter 59, Section 60, to deliberate pending abatement and exemption applications that are not open to public inspection; the board did not plan to reconvene in open session. The roll-call vote was recorded as Rau—Yes, Ostroski—Yes, Santos—Yes.
The meeting record lists the documents reviewed, including the motor vehicle excise warrant and notice of commitment, the monthly abatement lists, the CAI invoice, data-quality inspection property cards, a draft public disclosure notice and a forest cutting plan for the Coli property on Warner Hill Road. The board scheduled its next meeting for Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
