Charlemont assessors delay vendor decision after mixed valuation quotes
Summary
The board reviewed competing valuation-service quotes — Catalis at $11,250 and a combined CIDARE/MAK proposal at $16,000 — and tabled a decision pending a requested comprehensive quote from Catalis covering all services except property inspections.

At the Nov. 3 meeting Assessor’s Clerk Carlene Hayden presented the Board with multiple vendor quotes for town valuation services. The options outlined were: the town’s current vendor, Catalis (previous quote $11,250 for listed services); a combined proposal from CIDARE and MAK Valuation totaling $16,000 if they combine services; or a hybrid approach using CIDARE for real property inspections and Catalis for other services.
Hayden told the board she has asked Catalis for a quote that would cover all services except property inspections so the board could compare full scopes and costs. The Board tabled the discussion until that requested quote is received.
Why it matters: the selection of a valuation vendor affects the town’s cost for valuation work, the scope and timing of property inspections, and may affect the accuracy and timing of certification for FY2026 values. Board members did not make a selection at the meeting and took no final action.
