Residents press Green Township for Lake Tranquility drainage study; clerk previews Trinca Airport concept

Residents used the Jan. 6 public comment period to press the Township Committee for an update on road paving and drainage in the Lake Tranquility section.

Irene Buckley, a resident, thanked the mayor for past help with a drainage problem and asked when the Lake Tranquility roads — which she described as in worse shape than those recently paved — would be resurfaced. Mayor Virginia "Ginnie" Raffay said the township is "actively taking into consideration and addressing the roads in Lake Tranquility," and that recent paving work had been possible because of grant funding prioritizing throughways. The Township Clerk added that the committee has approved an RFP to study drainage in the area and that the RFP should be finalized and issued soon.

Separately, the Township Clerk presented a conceptual plan for the former Trinca Airport property in response to the committee's earlier concerns and said the proposal will be on a future meeting agenda for public review and comment. The Township Attorney explained that a Master Plan update would proceed through the Land Use Board and include a public hearing, providing the public an opportunity to review and offer input on proposed revisions.

Newly appointed township engineer Thomas G. Knutelsky introduced himself to the committee and said he will work closely with staff to provide engineering services.

The committee did not take immediate action beyond confirming the RFP and scheduling further discussion; residents were advised to watch for the RFP and future public hearings on master plan revisions.
