Green Township extends solar ground lease and seeks partners for remote net metering

The Green Township Committee on Jan. 6 approved a one-year extension of the ground lease with ACCP Green Solar II, LLC for the former Trinca Airport property and agreed to assist the solar developer in outreach for remote net metering customers.
Resolution 2025-41 extends the time to commence work through Jan. 1, 2025 and requires ACCP to pay $2,731.82 for that extension, representing a 3% increase in base rent. The resolution states all other lease terms remain in effect.
During discussion the Township Attorney explained the remote net metering application is open and that the State Agriculture Development Committee approved a change in agricultural soils related to the project. The developer needs customers with at least four times Green Township's energy consumption to proceed under the remote net metering arrangement; the committee was asked to provide leads for adjoining municipalities and school boards that might participate.
The Township Clerk said the solar company would supply a list of municipalities it intends to contact and the clerk's office will send introductory letters advising the targets that ACCP will be in touch.
The vote to authorize the one-year extension and fee was adopted by the committee during new business; the committee recorded a unanimous vote among members present. The extension does not itself authorize construction or change other lease conditions, which the resolution leaves subject to the existing lease terms and required approvals.
The committee also noted the former Trinca Airport property will appear again on a future agenda for additional discussion of conceptual plans and next steps.
