Branson unveils expanded transparency tools, online finance portal set to launch in January

Alex Gerard (S11) presented the City of Branson's 2025 transparency and public engagement report, telling aldermen the city has increased proactive outreach and improved records responsiveness. "We actually get it done here in 2 days," Alex said of the city's average Sunshine/records response time (noting a 1.9-day average versus a three-day statutory requirement).
The presentation listed several digital and engagement initiatives: an 'open finance' transparency model to publish budgets, revenues, expenditures and fund balances (scheduled for January 2026), an online business-licensing module planned for February 2026 to replace roughly 4,600 paper license applications, digitization of historical records, expanded social-media reach (about 7.6 million views and large follower growth) and one-page project summaries for major capital projects. Alex said these steps are intended to give residents easier access to data and clearer updates on project milestones.
The mayor and several aldermen praised the staff effort. The presentation also highlighted operational improvements such as text-notification features for permit inspections and a dedicated email for public comments. Alex said the city will continue to test and refine the open finance portal before public launch.
