Town of Pound awards $845,040 contract for N. 9th Road, seeks ARIP and bridge grants

The Town of Pound board voted unanimously on March 10 to award the N. 9th Road Reconstruction – Phase 2 (WisDOT ARIP, Contract A-26) to Peters Concrete Company for $845,040.20. The motion to award the contract was made by Supervisor Jeff Patenaude and seconded by Supervisor Dave Pellman and carried 5-0.
At the same meeting the board authorized Cedar Corporation to apply for Wisconsin Department of Transportation ARIP funding for two additional projects on 8th Road and 23rd Road (motion by Mike Zeitler, second by Jeff Nowak; carried 5-0). The board also approved the 2026 loadout agreement with Northeast Asphalt (motion by Dave Pellman, second by Mike Zeitler; carried 5-0).
Members discussed concerns about bridge conditions and agreed to seek grant support. The board approved a motion (Nowak/Patenaude; carried 5-0) allowing Supervisor Dave Pellman to initiate an application for the Local Small Structures Improvement Program (LSSIP) for the bridge on 29th Road; the board noted LSSIP applications are due May 1.
Chairman Curt Tisler reported the town will purchase a 2025 Ford F-350 from Middleton Motors for $62,000 and plans to sell the existing pickup once the new vehicle is set up; that procurement was presented to the board as information in the business discussion.
The board took no public vote changing the town's procurement policy at this meeting; the recorded formal votes were the contract award and the funding-application authorizations described above. The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
