Board approves $2.03 million in bills, personnel actions and routine business

The board approved a one-time $500 payment to The Art Project LLC (Sparta, N.J.) using Title IA Homeless Reserve funds for services rendered. Cooke summarized current AIL (Aid In Lieu) payment counts by family; she noted that eliminating AIL payments for multiple children within a family would have saved an estimated $16,500, but the board did not adopt such a change at the meeting.
Personnel motions approved included unpaid and revised maternity and family leaves, acceptance of resignations (Deanna Livigne effective Dec. 14, 2025; Scott Rosselli effective Jan. 9, 2026), appointment of a per diem substitute custodian, a retroactive transfer of Sheridan Runne to a full-time kindergarten position with benefits, approval of a substitute School Security Officer, CDL training enrollment for an employee with the $2,500 cost to be paid by the district, paraprofessional hires and a custodial schedule change. Other approved items included field trips (grades 2, 5 and 8), approval for Newton High School Theater to present a preview of Shrek the Musical on March 13, 2026, and purchase of the NJSBA LEAD Master Class Series bundle at $249 per board member for listed participants.
The meeting then proceeded to executive session for confidential litigation, attorney-client and personnel matters.
