Jun Suh of Parette Somjen Architects updated the Green Township Board of Education on Dec. 15 about cracks in the middle‑school flooring, telling trustees the cracks do not present an immediate safety issue but should be monitored.
Mr. Suh recommended installing crack meters to measure movement approximately every two to three months, hiring a plumber to inspect roof drains, and—optionally—conducting geotechnical borings because the middle school was built on a former leach field. The architect characterized the monitor devices as meters rather than alarms and said they would not trigger an immediate alarm but provide trend data.
The board approved a motion to engage PSA for professional services up to $1,500 to install crack meters and monitor the condition. The motion was recorded in operations items and carried by roll call. Trustees also noted the district will consider additional investigative steps depending on meter readings and any findings from drain inspections or borings.
