Board accepts 2024–25 audit; auditor warns high Newton tuition could strain finances

The Green Township Board of Education on Nov. 19 accepted the district’s 2024–25 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the Auditor’s Management Report after a presentation by Nisivoccia partner Man Lee.
Man Lee reviewed the management summary and told the board there were no procedural recommendations but highlighted that the district’s payments for students placed at Newton are placing pressure on the district’s financial outlook. As Man Lee summarized, the district should “monitor expenses cautiously for this year and next year,” and he said, “If this trend continues, there will have to be cuts in order to make the budget work.”
The acceptance motion was moved by Board member Ann Marie Cooke and seconded by Kristin Post; the motion passed on roll call.
Board Secretary/Business Administrator Karen Constantino later confirmed the audit closed with no comments. The auditor’s remarks were raised in the same session that the board reviewed budget planning timelines and ongoing discussions about tuition contracts with Newton Township.
The board will incorporate the audit summary into upcoming budget-planning work and monitor tuition-related expenditures as part of that process.
