Green Township board reviews 2025 self-evaluation, will add district goals to future agendas

The Green Township Board of Education reviewed its 2025 board self-evaluation at a Sept. 10 meeting and discussed steps to improve data analysis and financial oversight, while Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Cenatiempo said the district's goals will be placed on future meeting agendas.
President Marie Bilik opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m., led the flag salute and read the Open Public Meetings Act statement confirming public notice and agenda posting. Roll call showed eight board members present and one member, C.J. Bilik, absent. The board observed a moment of silence for Dr. Haiduc-Dale.
During a board retreat segment, President Marie Bilik reviewed the results of the 2025 board self-evaluation and the members discussed priorities identified by the evaluation. Board members said the district should pursue more granular slicing of student-performance data to support finer-grained goals and noted that some small subcategory results are suppressed, limiting detail available for analysis.
Members also flagged resource-management topics, asking for additional financial-training opportunities to strengthen oversight. The School Business Administrator, Karen Constantino, was asked to arrange a "Finance 101" session so board members can better read and interpret financial reports.
The board noted policy was the highest-rated area on the self-evaluation and discussed its role in accountability for student achievement. Members proposed boosting positive reinforcement by more regularly recognizing student accomplishments at meetings and increasing direct teacher-to-board communication when students are doing well.
Dr. Jennifer Cenatiempo reviewed the district goals during the retreat discussion, and the board recorded that those goals will be added to agendas going forward to provide consistent oversight and follow-up.
There were no public comments on agenda or non-agenda topics, and no board comments recorded under that agenda item. A motion to adjourn at 7:51 p.m. was made by Maureen McGuire and seconded by Dr. Melissa Vela; a roll-call vote recorded all present members as "aye," and the meeting was adjourned. The board set its next meeting for Sept. 17, 2025, at 7 p.m.
