Resident urges stricter rules on warehouses, noise and air pollution; will continue before Board of Supervisors

During public comment at the Aug. 11, 2025 meeting of the Silver Spring Township Zoning Hearing Board, resident Clarance Bouchat summarized proposed amendments to the township’s zoning ordinance that he has pursued with the Planning Commission and the Zoning Hearing Board.
Bouchat said he presented six proposals to the Board of Supervisors on July 23, 2025 and reported that supervisors reviewed three items: expanding the required distance between warehouses and residential property lines, adopting noise restraints, and adding provisions related to air pollution. He told the board the supervisors will compare the township’s cost, time and effort against public welfare, safety and health in deciding whether to amend the regulations.
Bouchat said he will continue his testimony and formal proposals at the August meeting of the Board of Supervisors. The Zoning Hearing Board’s record of the Aug. 11 meeting does not show the supervisors’ final decision.
