Silver Spring Township board approves fence variance for Springdale Court homeowners

Chairman Donald Franklin said the Silver Spring Township Zoning Hearing Board unanimously approved a variance for Gary and Kathleen Stepp to construct a fence that includes a small portion in the front yard of their corner lot at 20 Springdale Court.
The variance sought relief from Section 301.1 of the Silver Spring Township Zoning Ordinance. Zoning Hearing Officer Chelsea Leiby testified that required legal notices had been published and posted. The applicants presented evidence on the property's layout and topography and said the neighborhood homeowners association had approved the request and that surrounding neighbors had no objections.
Board members asked questions about prior fence variances in the township; Leiby said some fences in developments had variances and others did not. Chairman Franklin opened the floor to public comment and received none. Board Member Darrell McMillan moved to approve the application; Board Member Ryan Siney seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
No additional conditions were recorded in the minutes. The board moved on to the next agenda item.
