Committee to prepare vendor profiles, seed propagation plan and storage for pollinator garden

GREEN TOWNSHIP — At its Feb. 4 meeting the Green Township Environmental Advisory Committee moved from reorganization into operational matters, discussing native-plant purchases for the pollinator garden, equipment storage and a bench installation.
Gwen Santos reported that approximately $250 had been encumbered by a previous secretary for native-plant purchases, with a requisition on file showing $234.86. Committee member Ellen Lessin asked staff to create vendor profiles for Wild Ridge Nursery and Anderson Farms to streamline future purchases.
Matthew Fox said he collected seeds from existing plants last fall and recommended propagating those seeds to increase plantings in the pollinator garden. Committee member Fausto Moyano added that the SC Library and SC Seniors distribute free seeds that could be used and said he would gather additional information to report at the next meeting.
Members discussed storage of gardening equipment bought by a previous secretary and agreed to store the items in the GTMB shed. The committee decided one key will be given to the chair and one key kept on site for access by members. Regarding a garden bench reportedly purchased and delivered earlier, the committee asked Gwen Santos to follow up with DPW Supervisor Jason Miller to determine the bench’s current location and what materials, if any, will be needed for installation.
The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn at 6:20 p.m. The committee will reconvene on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
