Superintendent reports three HIB cases, choice lottery expands district seats to 54

Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Cenatiempo reported routine safety and program updates at the Jan. 2 Green Township Board of Education meeting, including three HIB cases since the December meeting, a fire drill on Dec. 12 and an evacuation drill on Dec. 17, and participation in safety and insurance meetings.
She described the district’s choice lottery held Dec. 13 for 10 available choice seats (27 applicants). The district requested two additional seats for twins who were not selected and was awarded those seats by the state, increasing the district’s total choice seats to 54. The superintendent said a mid-year budget review completed Dec. 13 covered enrollment, facilities, budget/fiscal items, reserve accounts, transportation, choice program and other standard items.
Dr. Cenatiempo also noted upcoming programming and clubs, including a ski club requiring physicals and events such as the Harlem Wizards assembly and holiday concert. The superintendent said the district will bring a pizza-lunch cost discussion to the Finance Committee for public follow-up.
