The Green Township Board of Education reorganized on Jan. 2, electing Marie Bilik as board president and Ann Marie Cooke as vice president and approving a slate of annual organizational items.
Board members nominated officers by paper ballot and formally approved the results. After the vote the newly elected president assumed the chair. The board also adopted the School Ethics Commission’s guidance on invoking the Doctrine of Necessity, directing that any invocation be read publicly and that the nature of conflicts be posted and provided to the Commission.
The board approved its 2025 meeting calendar, with regular meetings set generally for the third Wednesday of each month and specific dates listed for January through December, and authorized meeting notice procedures under the Open Public Meetings Act. It designated TD Bank for several district depository accounts and Provident Bank for student activity and cafeteria accounts, and authorized the Business Administrator/Board Secretary to execute warrants, transfers and bond payments as necessary.
Members reauthorized existing district policies and regulations and approved appointments and vendor relationships for 2024–25, including the district physician, architects, insurance and legal counsel and audit and payroll service providers. The board appointed Karen Constantino as the district’s Public Agency Compliance Officer, responsible for overseeing contracting procedures related to equal employment opportunity.
The board closed by confirming locations for legal notices and establishing committee structures (Curriculum; Operations/Finance; Personnel; Policy; Negotiations; Ad hoc) for the coming year.
