The Silver Spring Township Zoning Hearing Board unanimously approved a height variance for Rich Valley Golf, Inc. to alter its existing pavilion at 227 Rich Valley Road in Mechanicsburg.
The board heard the application, Variance 2025‑16, during its Oct. 20 meeting. Jeffrey S. Austin, representing Rich Valley Golf, said the pavilion conformed to a 2004 zoning standard that allowed a 17‑foot maximum height, while the current Section 202.C of the Silver Spring Township Zoning Ordinance limits accessory structures in the Rural Residential district to 15 feet. Zoning Hearing Officer Chelsea Leiby confirmed that required legal notices were posted.
Neighbor Amy Fernandez told the board she supported the project. Board members then convened a closed quasi‑judicial executive session for deliberations. After returning, Vice‑Chairman Richard Maffett moved to approve the variance; James Hall seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The approval permits Rich Valley Golf to proceed with the proposed addition to the pavilion, subject to any conditions the township applies in final permitting and building review. The board did not record any dissenting votes.
