Rolfe council schedules April 28 hearings on proposed gas-rate increase and FY26 budget

The Rolfe City Council on April 14 set two public hearings for 5:30 p.m. on April 28 at the Rolfe community center: one to consider an increase in city gas rates and another to consider and approve the fiscal year 2026 budget. Council members voted by roll call to schedule both hearings.
Council members said the hearings will allow residents to comment before any rate or budget changes are adopted. The hearings were approved by motions recorded in the meeting: the gas-rate hearing passed on a Cox/Pratt motion and the FY26 budget hearing passed on a Pratt/Allen motion, both by unanimous roll call votes of Pratt, Cox, Allen, Jackson and Minkler.
Mayor Jim Pentico also noted related municipal items at the meeting, including planned city clean-up days and an upcoming automated speed-sign installation coordinated with the Iowa Department of Transportation. The council approved use of the community center as a pickup site for the PAC summer lunch program and set dates for May cleanup efforts.
The council packet said both hearings will be held at the Rolfe community center on April 28 at 5:30 p.m.; the public may attend and submit comment at that time. No changes to gas rates or the budget were adopted at the April 14 meeting itself; further action will depend on outcomes of the hearings.
