Mayor Jim Pentico called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. at the Rolfe community center. The council approved the consent agenda—including the agenda and minutes from February meetings—and recorded vendor and payroll items as part of the meeting record. Treasurer Sindergard presented the monthly financial report, which the council approved.
The council set a public hearing on the city’s proposed FY25-26 property tax levy for 5:00 p.m. on April 14, 2025, at the Rolfe community center (motion Cox/Jackson). The hearing will give residents a formal opportunity to comment before the council adopts the levy.
Council members approved a resolution updating the City of Rolfe’s anti-drug and alcohol program (motion Pratt/Jackson). The minutes record a roll-call vote with Councilmembers Minkler, Jackson, Allen, Cox and Pratt voting aye; the other resolution on the agenda was tabled with no action recorded.
Other routine actions included approval to renew the city's insurance with Western Insurance (motion Pratt/Allen), and a vote authorizing reimbursement of time and materials for the Code Enforcement Officer for work related to public records requests (motion Allen/Jackson). Two nuisance-abatement appeals were dismissed and additional letters were mailed to property owners regarding other nuisance cases.
The meeting adjourned at 6:08 p.m. after a motion from Councilmember Aaron Cox and a second from Councilmember Dan Allen.
What happens next: The city will hold the public hearing on April 14 on the FY25-26 levy; the council noted it will consult the city attorney about a flagged intergovernmental agreement with the nearby City of Moville.
