Commission warns outdated forest management plan could cost Hamilton Sustainable Jersey points

Clinton Griggs said he investigated the requirements for achieving Silver certification in the Sustainable Jersey program and concluded the outdated forest plan threatens the Township’s points. Griggs said he is in talks with Rob Poppert to complete the update but there is no timeline; the process will require consultant work, Planning Board review and Council action.
Commissioners emphasized that updating the plan is a multi-step process that could take time: a consultant would prepare the plan, it would go before the Planning Board, and then to Council for adoption. No budget or schedule was specified in the minutes.
The Commission listed the Sustainable Jersey item under new business and flagged it as work that needs follow-up before certification deadlines or point allocations are finalized.
