Commission approves Mendota utility improvements, DNR stewardship and multiple small maintenance projects

At its Feb. 27 meeting the State Building Commission approved a range of agency maintenance and small capital actions.
The Department of Health Services presented a design report and secured authority to construct utility improvements at Mendota Mental Health Institute for an estimated $19,920,000 ($14,920,000 EX-GFSB and $5,000,000 SEG REV). Senator Brad Pfaff moved the item and Senator Mary Felzkowski seconded; the minutes record approval.
The Department of Natural Resources, in cooperation with DOA, requested release of $500,000 in Stewardship Property Development funds (authorized under s. 20.866(2)(ta), Wis. Stats.) for Friends-group and nonprofit conservation organization match grants to be administered as small projects; the Commission approved the release. The Commission also approved $117,000 SEG REV for preliminary plans and a design report for Stewart Tunnel repair on the Badger State Trail, and a set of other DNR maintenance projects totaling $5,888,900 across funding sources.
Other maintenance approvals recorded include a Capitol electrical main breakers replacement ($1,092,400 SEG REV) and a Department of Corrections municipal water system improvement at MCC ($438,400 EX-GFSB).
